Manitoba Choral Association offers several awards, scholarships, and competitions each year to foster and support local talent and professional development.
Choral Leaders
Honorary
Membership

MCA’s highest honour is reserved for people who have distinguished themselves for a number of years in the choral community and specifically in MCA’s work. Candidates are selected by an appointed MCA Honorary Membership Committee and recipients are honoured at MCA events throughout the year.
MCA Awards of Distinction

MCA’s Awards of Distinction were established in 2020 to honour individuals, choirs, institutions, corporations, and programs in recognition of their valuable contributions to Manitoba’s choral community. Candidates are selected by an appointed MCA Award Committee and recipients are honoured at MCA events throughout the year.
Choral Students
David G.H. Waters Hymn Sing Memorial Award

The David G.H. Waters Hymn Sing Memorial Award is given annually to a student pursuing studies leading to a music degree with a major in voice. The deadline to apply is May 31 each year, and recipients are notified in early July.
Bert Kroeker Scholarship

The Bert Kroeker Scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving student who is actively pursuing a career in choral music education. The deadline to apply is May 31 each year, and recipients are notified in early July.
Choral Composers
Frances Seaton Choral Composition Competition

Honouring the memory of longtime MCA member Frances Seaton, the Frances Seaton Choral Composition Competition encourages the composition of new choral works by Manitoba composers. The deadline to apply is May 31 each year, and the winner is announced by the end of August.
