It is with great sadness that we announce that Manitoba ChoralFest will be cancelled for 2020. ChoralFest has been one of MCA’s annual flagship programs for for 33 years, giving hundreds of choirs and thousands of singers from across Manitoba the opportunity to work with acclaimed adjudicators and expert clinicians from across the continent.
Choirs have grappled with the effects of COVID-19 for several months now. Although we have held out hope that we would be able to hold the festival in person in some form, we have determined this will not be possible due to increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases across the province, and the uncertainty of choral activities leading into the fall.
Although we are unable to gather together at ChoralFest this November, MCA is still committed to offering accessible workshops, webinars, and choral resources to our member choirs throughout the year. Plans are currently underway for virtual programming covering relevant topics to our choral community.
We know that COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the choral community in Manitoba, and for that reason, we have decided to keep our membership fees the same as last year, and waive additional choir fees for organizations, schools, and institutions. So when you sign your choir up to be an MCA member this year, you’ll pay one fee for all the choirs you register from the same organization.
We encourage choirs and schools to still consider membership with MCA this year. Your support will enable us to continue to offer valuable programming and resources to Manitoba’s choral community for years to come, well after this pandemic has ended!
