Did you know that the MCA Board of Directors has not one, but two recipients of the King Charles III Coronation Medal?
The King Charles III Coronation Medal is awarded to people who have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region or community of Canada, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to MCA Treasurer Robyn Stewart on recently receiving this honour for her work with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Robyn posted on Facebook, "I am incredibly proud to post that I was the recipient of a King Charles III Coronation Medal for my work with Heart & Stroke Foundation. It's incredibly gratifying to be honoured, along with other lived experience volunteers, senior volunteers and donors. But honestly I am most touched that I could be here to accept the honour due in great part to my surgery and medical care provided to me. That I can support the research Heart & Stroke Foundation funds will save lives like mine. #Phighter". The #Phighter movement is a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada fundraising and awareness campaign focused on combating heart disease and stroke. It encourages individuals to get involved by participating in fundraising events like the Ride for Heart, Jump Rope for Heart, or by simply sharing their stories to raise awareness. The movement aims to support research, promote recovery for survivors, and help give children and youth a healthy start.

In 2024, MCA Intra-Provincial Director Crystal Kolt received the King Charles III Coronation medal for her time spent promoting and organizing arts and cultural events in Flin Flon. Crystal was presented the medal prior to assuming the role of Director of Culture and Community Initiatives for the City of Flin Flon in the very first dispersal of the medals in October 2024 by Manitoba Lieutenant Governor Anita Neville at Government House.
In an article by the local news, Flin Flon's The Reminder, Kolt said, "I believe that these things need to be acknowledged and recognized. Otherwise, nobody knows the great things that are happening in our province and it's just a little summary of the many, many things that are going on. You know that there are people who are really trying to make our province a better place to live in than it was before."
Congratulations Robyn & Crystal!
