MB SINGS

ABOUT
Once a year, singers from all over the province and surrounding regions come together for an inspiring weekend of music and community-building with accomplished and respected conductors from across the continent. Formerly known as Provincial Honour Choirs, the MB Sings program focuses on intensive rehearsals, followed by a final concert where singers can show off what they’ve learned to families and friends.
"It gives me the chance to be part of a choral community. Being so fully immersed in music and sharing the love of music builds such a sense of community that I get to be a part of."
-2020 MB Sings participant
MB Sings is made up of 3 choirs: the Junior Choir (singers in grades 5 - 8), the Senior Choir (singers in grades 9 - 12), and the Adult Choir (ages 18+). Registration is open to all, regardless of choral experience or singing ability.
DETAILS
We look forward to celebrating a return to in-person programming in 2023!
The 2023 MB Sings program will run from Friday, January 27 to Sunday, January 29. Rehearsals take place at Gordon Bell High School (Winnipeg) Friday evening and all day Saturday. On Saturday evening, singers and their families are invited to participate in a “Saturday Night Live” event that sees a performance from a local professional ensemble, as well as musical acts from the singers themselves.
On Sunday afternoon, following a short rehearsal, singers take to the stage to show off all they have learned for their family and friends at the closing concert. This year's finale concert will take place at Portage Avenue Church (Winnipeg), and will feature guest choir Horizon (Winnipeg) singing the 2022 winning composition of the Frances Seaton Choral Competition, Refraction by Manitoba composer Leanne Cooper-Carrier. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. The venue sells out every year, so be sure to get your tickets early!
NEW THIS YEAR: Supporters can attend the concert in-person at Portage Avenue Church or by livestream!
Online ticket sales for the in-person concert will close on Saturday, January 28 at midnight. After that, tickets may be purchased at the door by cash or credit card. Livestream tickets will be available until 2:00pm on January 29.
