MCA plays an integral role in the Manitoba arts community and music education communities. We represent and support the choral arts on the board of the Manitoba Music Educators’ Association (MMEA) and the Foundation for Choral Music in Manitoba. MCA also supports the planning and execution of MMEA’s annual professional development event, Tempo.
We are grateful for strong support from our funding partners, who are all very active in supporting arts organizations and choirs in our province: Manitoba Arts Council, Winnipeg Arts Council, The Winnipeg Foundation, and The Thomas Sill Foundation. We are members of several local and international organizations that support various facets of our community as well: Arts AccessAbility Network Manitoba, Creative Manitoba, the Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce, and Musica International.
MCA is one of nine provincial choral arts service organizations from across the country, and our choirs enjoy associate membership in our national choral arts service organization, Choral Canada.
Our organization is affiliated with MusicFest Canada, and every year, our ChoralFest adjudicators recommend member choirs to represent Manitoba at the festival. We are also proud to support singers from Manitoba who are selected to participate in the biennial National Youth Choir of Canada program.
MCA has also partnered with The Winnipeg Foundation to maintain an Endowment Fund to ensure a reliable and continuing source of income, enabling MCA to continue to keep Manitoba singing for years to come, with a voice for every choir, and a choir for every voice.
