ABOUT

ChoralFest is an annual two-week, non-competitive festival that provides choirs and conductors an opportunity to work with acclaimed adjudicators and expert clinicians from across the continent. The festival invites all levels and styles of choral singing, including vocal jazz. Approximately 150 choirs and 6,000 singers participate each year.

ChoralFest is open to all choirs; no matter a choir’s level of experience, our adjudicators and clinicians work with each group at its own level. Participating choirs must be members of MCA. For more information on membership with MCA, click here.

Although ChoralFest is non-competitive, adjudicators may recommend choirs to represent Manitoba at the national annual festival, MusicFest Canada.

Registration in ChoralFest includes:

  • Performance timeslot for 2-3 pieces

  • Written adjudications from renowned adjudicators

  • One 30-minute clinic (Early Years, Middle Years) or two 20-minute clinics (Senior Years, Community, Vocal Jazz choirs) with experienced clinicians

  • Opportunity to listen to other choirs

  • Certificate of participation

Registration fees are posted a minimum of 2 months prior to the festival and are non-refundable. Payment may be made by Credit Card, Cheque, e-Transfer, or Invoice.

We are honoured to have so many choirs from across Manitoba join us for ChoralFest. As such, scheduling requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. A preliminary schedule will be emailed to all registrants at least 4 weeks prior to the festival.

MCA is mindful that COVID-19 is still prevalent in our community, and the safety of all ChoralFest participants is top of mind. Choirs may choose to wear masks during their performances, and to distance themselves while standing or seated if so desired. It is recommended that audience members wear masks and distance themselves.

We encourage all attendees to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms prior to coming in person, and we respectfully ask attendees to stay home if they are exhibiting any symptoms and/or test positive for COVID-19.

We will continue to monitor and follow all provincial public health restrictions at the time of the festival.
